The facts about hearing
For many people, losing their hearing is simply a part of getting older.
For others it can be the result of an unforeseeable incident, or spending a long time in a noisy environment, or even the result an underlying congenital condition that could have gone unnoticed for years.
Whichever the case, hearing loss remains a prominent – and in some cases preventable – condition in the UK. A lack of understanding and the stigma attached to hearing loss means many people suffer unnecessarily.
We hope that by providing as much information and support as possible, sufferers can take action towards improving their hearing, while others can take steps towards protecting their hearing and preventing hearing loss.
Hearing loss explained
For most people, hearing loss happens very gradually, usually caused by over-exposure to noise or an underlying congenital condition that goes unnoticed and therefore untreated.
